The monthly series where we pick out a handful of fun gigs and such happening around the sound. Mostly in Malmö and Lund, but also in Copenhagen and maybe even further? That is if we think that it’s something worth giving a mention. Did we miss anything? TELL US!
A lot of venues are either closed or barely operating due to festival season and due to it kind of just being summer. There’s always some cool things happening though, check them out below! Even if few and far between…
1/7
the roseline (annelundsgården) heartland rock straight outta kansas, summer on the countryside type beat (a lot of shows @ annelundsgården but most of it is stomp-clap country or jazz, someone else can create websites for those subcultures)
3/7
weeping willows (sounds of summer mölleplatsen) sentimental anthemic pop, pretty big group idk they’re ok I guess
4/7
WEATHERDAY (PLAN B) sweden’s no.1 emonoise export stops by MALMÖ to play tunes from their new LP HORNET DISASTER (so far, one of the best albums of the year). emotional pop songs with a rocking and distorted sound – a delightful blend of chiptune, noiserock and bedroompop. se upp i backen!
6/7
Sacri Monti (Plan B) california organ-laced semi-progressive classic heavy pyschrock
11/7
Igår (Grand) svensk lite sådär folkig indie, lite mer visor än poplåtar oftast men ibland lite anthematic indiepop typ – fin musik
12/7
Nordic Cactus (Grand) malmö altrock, scrappy 90s indierock vibe – described as postpunk but I don’t really see it (compliment)
18/7
lkn / boris (grand) ung fräsch popkille / ung fräsch hiphopkille
25/7
My Quiet Dreams (Grand) pleasant malmö indie-powerpop – lovely vocal harmonies and melodies and all that jazz (not jazz)
29/7
Zeke / Private Function (Plan B) 90s seattle hardcore punkrock, barking vox and fast thrashin’ riffs / australian party punkrock, semi-clever lyrics and speedy tunes – it’s gonna get rowdy
